My Indie Life: The most fun I have had listening to music

Thesixtyone.com is the most fun I have ever had listening to music. The website is a place that anyone can upload music to, but there is a twist. When you sign up, for free, you are given hearts and when you like a song you can heart it. If more people heart it after you then you get points, the more points you have the more heart you get to heart other songs. It is almost a game you get to play while listening to music. You also move up to higher levels and can unlock different parts of the site. On the side there are different challenges and quests. A challenge can be something like heart 50 songs and a quest is something like listen to seven songs on the recently posted page. Not only is the point system fun but it is very helpful when trying to find new music. Bands with more hearts usually have some pretty good songs. The site is also good at posting good songs on different pages like, “hot right now” and “top songs.” Overall the site is a great time and you can expect to find some more favorite songs to add to the list. You can become my friend and listen to my radio at http://www.thesixtyone.com/p3lothian.

What I am listening to now.

  1. Gotta say, thesixtyone.com really is sweet. I personally haven’t gotten into the “game” aspect of the site by trying to boost my ranking, but at it’s core, thesixtyone.com is an amazing source for finding new music that you’ve never heard of. There are a plethora of very talented independent musicians on this site, and you can browse for specific songs to stream online, or you can just listen to music as a radio station. Really a great way to find new artists! -RS

  2. Who doesn’t love the61? I am absolutely in love with the idea cuz I get to find new music that no one else has listened to. for anyone who doesn’t have an account, i suggest it. it’s like pandora, but better because most of the artists are complete unknowns. it’s free to sign up as a bonus, and it’s a good way (if you’re an artist) to get your stuff heard by people who LOVE unknown, independent, unsigned bands and solo acts!
