Hip Shorts: Bartending School
Irish Car Bombs, Long Island Iced Tea, White Russians, and Lemon Drop Martinis

There are so many more drinks to choose from besides Rum and Cokes, Vodka and Sprites, and beer. And while those drinks may seem mysterious, they’re actually still pretty easy to make.
So, we filmed this bad boy a little while ago…this being the very first Hip Short and all. We knew we wanted to do something with drinks, because they cost so damn much at the bars so having a fun night in, making our own drinks, sounded like a great plan.
It took a long time to decide what drinks we actually wanted to make, because we wanted to be able to make the most amount of drinks with the least amount of purchases. That didn’t work out. We ended up making three completely different adult beverages, using completely different ingredients.
It was funny leaving the liquor store with bag upon bag of ingredients. They must have thought were were some kind of alchies. But now we have plenty of liquor to learn how to make a lot more drinks. And don’t worry there wasn’t any driving after the drinking, just passing out on the couch.
Anyhow, here are the recipes we used to make these drinks, just in case they flew by too fast for you in the video. Let us know how these drinks turned out for you by commenting on this blog post.
Irish Car Bomb:
- 1/2 Shot of Bailey’s Irish Cream
- 1/2 Shot of Jameson Irish Whiskey
- 3/4 Pint of Guiness Stout
Long Island Iced Tea:
- 1 oz Vodka
- 1 oz Rum
- 1 oz Tequila
- 1 oz Gin
- 1 oz Triple Sec
- 1 Tsp Sugar
- 2 Tbsp Lemon Juice
Lemon Drop Martini:
- 1 1/2 oz vodka
- 1 Tbsp Sugar
- 2 Tbsp Lemon Juice
- 1 oz Margarita Mix (or 1 oz Triple Sec for a kick)
White Russian:
- 2 oz Vodka
- 2 oz Bailey’s Irish Cream
- 3 oz Milk (Chocolate Milk for Robby)
Do you have any drink recipes you’d like to try, but can’t find the time or money? Comment on this post or tweet it to us @maybehip! We’d love to take your suggestions and run with them.

if you mean the “word” island, yes I agree.
but the world is not an island…that would be a sad lonely life for it.

So…….. White russians are made with vodka, kahlua and cream (not baileys, although that is genius). And a black russian is JUST vodka and kahlua. Also, Triple Sec ALWAYS smells like oranges because it is an orange liqueur.
Greatest bartending lesson I have ever seen. Robby, nice job chugging that irish car bomb
