Chicago Music: Andy B. White
Andy B. White is a very gifted folk artist. He was a blast to have in the studio. It was clear when he played his guitar what he was a very gifted musician. Chicago Music: The Shams Band
The Shams Band was gracious enough to have us into their recording studio and play us some songs. It is always fun to see bands play where they feel the most comfortable and they were great. We then got the chance to sit down on their very long couch and talk to them about the music, what else they are into, and a lot of commercial songs. Thank you guys so much for having us. Chicago Music: Andrew Belle
Andrew Belle was a great treat in the studios. He has been touring around with “Ten out of Tenn”, a group of ten artists from Nashville, and shared a lot of the experiences living in one of the music capitals of the country. He painted a picture of walking into any coffee place and seeing people playing music. He then played us some great songs from his new album. The first song Static Waves was featured on a resent episode of Grey’s Anatomy. You can listen to those songs below and watch Andrew Belle’s episode of Chicago Rocks here.

Chicago Music: Facing Winter
From the guys of Facing Winter,
Relaxing with high-quality beers and friendly folks … this is how all interviews should be done! It’s just a great idea. We had good times chattin’ with Pat and Lexi. They have a kind of welcoming, familiar quality. It made for a quick comfort factor and lots of laughs, on and off camera.
This episode comes as we’re about to finish recording “Gifts from Gravity”, our second full-length album. It will be available mid-2010 on iTunes and a bunch of other sites. The first song on the album will be “Travelin”, which is featured in this Chicago Rocks! episode. Go to http://facingwinter.com and it will start playing automatically, followed by a selection of other FW tunes.
Our next big Chicago show is at the Double Door on April 21st. That’ll be a Wednesday night affair with two other bands: Chicago’s own MacGuffin, and fantastic Michigan indie band Valentiger.

I can honestly tell you from experience that you can’t have a bad time at one of these shows. The energy that these bands have when they perform is really something special, and they make the audience a part of the show. You don’t want to miss this night of fun! Chicago Music: Cobalt and the Hired Guns
Cobalt and the Hired guns have stage presents like so many bands wish they could. It is so clear that these guys are loving every moment that they are singing. Their sound is also very unique with the combination of sax, accordion, and a special way to play the drums. Drummer Jesse becomes a one-man percussion section. He has a box, a single drum, a cymbal and anything he can hit these things with including a drum stick, shakers, a tambourine and even sometimes a banana.
Their acoustic set was amazing and was full of the energy of a show. We hope that you enjoy them as much as we do, we think that you will. Below are the first couple videos from Cobalt and the Hired Guns. More coming soon. You can see their Chicago Rocks episode here.

Chicago Music: Jackpot Donnie
Chicago Rocks took the show out of the studio for the first time. We went all the way to the other side of Chicago to set up base at Jackpot Donnie’s recording studio. These guys are so much fun to hang out with and watch play music. If you want to have a fun night out on the town these guys put on a show. Chicago Music: Katie Todd and Stephen Wright
Katie Todd and Stephen Wright graced us with their presence for episode 4 of Chicago Rocks. Watching them play music was amazing; It was like a private concert in our home. Katie playing on Lexi’s grand piano and Stephen rocking on his trumpet were music to our ears that day. Stephen also had a brand new mic for his trumpet that very few people have in the world right now. Andrew was extremely happy with the way the sound turned out for Katie’s songs as I’m sure all of you will be too once you’ve heard them.

Chicago Music: How Far To Austin
This band has figured out the key to being awesome. That’s right, the mandolin. There is something about that sound when added to the voices of these two singers that just works.
This was the first band that did an acoustic set and it was amazing being able to hear their music fill the space. We recorded their performance in our two story living room and it sounded like the room was made for this music.
The interview with this band is going to be hard to beat. We drank some shitty beer and relaxed for a couple of hours in front of the camera. This was also the first band where one of the members went right up to the camera to send out a personal message to the audience. It was a hilarious time to say the least.
