Instant Movie Review: Shutter Island

Today on the Instant Movie Review, Pat & Rob talk about the film “Shutter Island”, the psychoanalytic thriller starring Leonardo DiCaprio & Mark Ruffalo – directed by Martin Scorsese. In the film, DiCaprio plays a US Federal Marshall who goes with his partner (Ruffalo) to Shutter Island (a home to the criminally insane) to investigate the disappearance of a patient.

Find out what Pat & Rob thought of the film immediately after seeing it in the theaters.  Then, come back on Wednesday for an all-new episode of OK, Good Stuff where they will talk about the movie again, now that they’ve had some time to digest what they saw.

Instant Movie Review: Edge of Darkness

Welcome to the Instant Movie Review!  Here’s where Robby, Pat, and sometimes special guests talk about the movie immediately after leaving the theater!  Revolutionary concept, eh?

Well, today they went and saw the new Mel Gibson flick, “Edge of Darkness”, which I know at least Robby was apprehensive about at first. For a bit of background, the screenplay was written by William Monahan who also wrote The Departed, and it coincidentally also takes place in Boston.  In the film, a man (Mel Gibson) watches as his daughter is shot and killed. He then makes it his mission to find out why, and a number of crazy things unravel.

After you’ve watched the Instant Movie Review, head over to OK, Good Stuff Episode 9 for their full and complete thoughts.

Instant Movie Review: Extraordinary Measures

Welcome to the Instant Movie Review!  Watch as Pat, Robby, and sometimes special guests discuss the latest films right as they leave the theater.  Maybe Hip is the only place you’re gonna find that.

This week, the boys (along with special friend Beth) went and saw “Extraordinary Measures” starring Brendan Fraser and Harrison Ford. The film is based on the true story of John Crowley and his family – two kids suffering from Pompe Disease (a form of muscular dystrophy) – and a theoretical scientist who helps him find a cure for his children.

What did you think of this flick?  Tell us about it below!

Instant Movie Review: Avatar

Welcome to the Instant Movie Review – the place where we talk about movies before the popcorn kernels have even been picked out of our teeth yet.

For this first installment, Robby, Pat, and special guest Kevin (from Your News) talk about Avatar – Exciting!  This new James Cameron film has had big expectations, so I’m sure you’ll want to know if and how those expectations were met.  So, the film stars a number of talented people (too many to really talk about here), and takes place in the future on a planet called Pandora where there is a very valuable mineral deposit that the humans want to take for their own. In order to do that, they have to get the natives to trust them, hence…you bring in an Avatar – 50% human DNA, 50% Na’vi.
